Discover Which Jack Lalanne Juicer Measures Up

jack lalanne juicerWhere does the Jack Lalanne juicer fall in the market? Is it really as powerful as advertised on TV? When compared with most other juicers on the market this is a very impressive machine, though the exact features being offered depend on which model of the juicer you select.

Power Juicer Classic

This is the entry level Jack Lalanne juicer but it still comes equipped with the surgical-quality stainless steel blade that is used on all juicer models from the brand as well as a rather powerful 3,600 rpm motor. This motor is supported with a lifetime warranty! The depository chute is large enough to hold many fruits and vegetables without slicing or dicing them first and comes with a very large pulp collector that won't have to be changed as often as other models.

Power Juicer Express

Take all of those basic features found on the Classic model and add in a non-drip spout and more compact body and you have the Jack Lalanne Power Juicer Express. This model is the same machine as the Classic but designed to take up less room in the kitchen.

Power Juicer Deluxe

The Deluxe model includes all of the basic features presented on the Classic model plus the non-drip spout. The big difference between the other models is that it has a very attractive stainless steel finish that blends well into a modern kitchen.

Power Juicer Pro

Take the Deluxe model and throw in a stainless steel mesh filter and you have the slightly improved Jack Lalanne Power Juicer Pro. This is an attractive and super functional juicer with the same powerful motor and safety features of all the other models, but with the added value of stainless steel on the exterior and filter.

Power Juicer Elite

The Jack Lalanne Juicer Elite has it all! This is the most stylish juicer offered by the brand. It is sleek stainless steel in finish with black accents and features the non-drip spout. It is designed to conserve space on your kitchen countertop and includes unique soy technology which you can only get with this model. You still get all of the other benefits that are featured on the other models, but you add in advanced technology and an attractive exterior.

Most of these Jack Lalanne juicer models only have very slight differences from one to the next and they are selling for slightly different prices as well. If you want the absolute best juicing experience with all the power promised through the TV infomercials, go with the Power Juicer Elite since it offers everything you could ever expect from a juicing machine: power, silent operation, accommodation of whole fruits and vegetables, and easy clean up.

Most impressive of all is how quiet all Jack Lalanne juicers are! You can expect all of these models to extract as much as 30% more juice from your fruit and vegetables than competing juicers.

Electric Citrus Juicer Or Manual Citrus Press Juicer - Which is Better?

citrus juicerJuicers such as electric manual citrus press juicers are juicers created to handle the seeds, segmentation and thick outer skin that characterize citrus fruits. Using a citrus juicer is convenient because using certain types of citrus juicers allows you to extract the juice from these fruits without removing their skin. But which of the two types of citrus juicer is the better juicer? We will discuss several factors in deciding whether an electric citrus juicer or a manual citrus juicer is more suited to your personal needs by evaluating the automation, preparation time, operation, quality of juice, and cleaning and storage properties of each.

Automation

The notable feature of a manual citrus juicer is the fact that it does not require electricity. Instead, these juicers use leverage to extract juice from the fruit by squeezing it in between two handles of an appropriate size, much like a pressing machine. Electric citrus juicers, on the other hand, are automatic and (obviously) powered by electricity which is a significant advantage, especially when juicing large quantities of fruit.

Preparation Time

Using a manual citrus juicer requires little to no preparation time due to the fact that the piece of fruit does not have to be peeled before it is juiced. By contrast, while some electric citrus juicers like the electric reamer allow you to put in an unpeeled piece of fruit, most electric citrus juicers require that you peel the fruit before inserting it into the juicer, which can be a definite disadvantage.

Operation

Manual citrus press juicers operate by having a person manually squeeze the fruit in between two handles until the juice is extracted. Because it is done by hand, the process can be tiring and time consuming if large quantities of fruit are being juiced. Electric reamers require you to press down on the reamer unit, causing it to spin. Other electric citrus juicers allow you to simply insert the peeled fruit into the juicer and juice with the push of a button.

Quality of Juice

Manual citrus press juicers are highly effective at squeezing out the pure fruit juice without mixing in pulp or the bitter oils from the skin of the fruit. On the other hand, electric citrus juicers, particularly electric reamers, squeeze pulp directly into the juicer, meaning it must be strained if you do not like pulp and/or the juicer does not come with a strainer. Moreover, some feel that it brings out too much bitterness in the fruit because some of the bitter tasting oils get scraped off the inside of the peel and are blended with the juice.

Cleaning and Storage

Because manual citrus press juicers are so simply designed, they are easy to clean and keep in good repair. They are easily stored as well because most are quite small in size. Electric citrus juicers, on the other hand can be tougher to keep clean and in good repair because of their motors and additional moving parts. They can also be harder to store as they tend to be bigger than manual citrus press juicers.

Conclusions

If you do not intend to do much juicing, prefer a higher quality, sweeter juice, or do not mind squeezing large quantities of juice by hand, then a manual citrus press juicer is probably for you. Advantages: little to no preparation time, simple to operate, high quality juice, easy to clean and store. Disadvantages: it may take time to make larger quantities of juice.

If you are simply looking for overall convenience and speed from your juicer and do not mind having to peel fruit before juicing (in the case of a normal electric juicer, not an electric reamer) or having a less sweet-tasting, pulpier juice, then you might consider either an electric reamer or a regular electric juicer. Between the two, an electric reamer is probably more convenient overall. Advantages: reasonably easy to operate, easier to make large quantities of juice. Disadvantages: longer preparation time, lower quality juice, harder to clean and store.

juice extractorLearn Which Juice Extractor Is Right For You

What are Juice Extractors?

Juice extractors are electric machines from a variety of manufacturers such as Breville, Kenwood, Green Star, Omega, Champion, Jack Lalane, Samson and L'Equip that are used for the extraction of juice from fruit and vegetables. Juice extractors are perfect for healthy, refreshing and freshly blended treats like fruit and vegetable juices. Juice extractors are the best way to get great tasting nutritious drinks. A juice extractor is not the same as citrus juicers, which are designed to remove the juice from citrus fruit and nothing more. Juice extractors are perfectly suitable for making juice of soft and hard fruits and vegetables as well. Orange, apple and grape juice are all excellent juices that should be included in a healthy diet. Carrots, wheatgrass and barley grass have many outstanding health properties.

Juice Extractor Types

Typically, a automatic juice extractor are categorized into Centrifugal Juicers or Masticating Juicers. Centrifugal Juicers use cutters that shred the food into small pieces that are spun in a basket (where the centrifuge comes in) to extract the juice from the pulp. These centrifugal juice extractors can create oxidation that degrades nutrients over time which means that the juice should be drunk right away. Masticating Juicers "chew" the food up and are lower speed units that produce a higher quality juice because they produce less oxidation and release more nutrients. The juices produced have a longer shelf life. There is also a third type of juice extractors and these are the Hydraulic Press Juicers such as the Norwalk Juicer which cuts and grates the produce using a vortex triturator, with the resulting mass extracted into a linen bag which is then placed under a hydraulic press. The hydraulic press then exerts a huge downforce that sees the extraction from the Norwalk Juicer of 50%-100% more juice than other juicers. These juice extractors produce very little oxidation and are touted to make the highest nutrient juice, but are also much more expensive than the centrifugal or masticating juice extractors.

Which is the Best Juice Extractor?

The answer to this really lies with the user. The fastest juice extractors are the centrifugal juicers, but they are unable to handle leafy greens and wheatgrass as well as the other types. The hydraulic press extractors produce the best juice but are very expensive. And the masticating juicer requires more physical effort. So, to pick one machine from one manufacturer is not possible with each manufacturer having a range of home, commercial, pro or professional juice extractor. When buying a juice extractor, the best way is to decide which features you require in a machine, the type of juice you want to extract, whether from fruit such as apples, vegetables such as carrots or leafy greens such as wheatgrass, and the power needed.
